The moviegoers in Moldova can watch seven newest Romanian films within the Romanian Film Days in Chisinau on October 20-23. Besides the seven new films, there will be shown the movie “At the fortunate mill”, which forms part of the history of Romanian cinematography. The organizers provided details about the event in a news conference.

Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu” in Chisinau Valeriu Matei said the Romanian film industry is in the ascendant and the Romanian movies win new awards at international and European festivals each year. The program of the Romanian Film Days in Chisinau includes mainly contemporary films and the classical movie “At the fortunate mill”, which was made 60 years ago, IPN reports.

Ionut Mares, Romanian film critic, said the Romanian Film Days start this evening with the film “Beyond railways”, directed by Catalin Mitulescu. This year the film has won a special award at the Karlovy Vary Festival. The movie has an interesting theme that covers both Romania and Moldova. It is about a man who tries to restore relations with his wife after returning home from Italy. The same evening, there will be screened the debut film of Catrinel Danaiata “Double”.

A masterclass with director Cristi Puiu will be staged on October 21. Afterward, there will be shown “At the fortunate mill”, directed by Victor Iliu in 1955. The same day, there will be screened the newest film by Marian Crisan, the thriller “Horizon”, and Adrian Sitaru’s film “Illegitimate”.

On October 22, a masterclass will be given by producer Anca Puiu. There will be shown Andrei Cohn’s “At my father’s home” and Cristi Puiu’s “Sieranevada” that was launched in September.
